Your Questions, Answered

  • Then you are our perfect shooting companion! We talk from experience through our own self portraits which started this project. All but one of our team are parents in our 40s and our bodies are far from “Instagram perfect”. However, the confidence and body acceptance gained through our own series of work drives our passion for bringing this experience to others.

  • Every shoot starts with a conversation, either via email/text, via a video call or in person. Our aim is to learn a little about you. We’re keen to know your reasons for wanting to do the shoot, discuss any reservations you may have along with locations and potential shoot dates. At the same time, you will get to know more about us!

  • Every shoot is attended by at least two members of The Bare Project. As lead photographer, Andrew head’s up the shoot and is assisted by either Lynsey, Amelia or Tove. Therefore a male/female duo will always be present. You are also more than welcome to bring a chaperone.

A basic level of fitness is required to shoot for the project. It is not uncommon for us to hike more than 30 minutes to reach a shooting location, whether it be deep into a forest or to a remote section of a beach. This is all part of the experience and gives us all chance to have a chat and get to know each other.

The shoot itself is very relaxed. We welcome your ideas during the shoot and the simplistic beauty of our shots does not require you to have any complex posing or modelling knowledge.

Planning the weather is all but impossible in the UK! For those brave enough to shoot in cold or wet conditions, we work fast and adapt accordingly to ensure everyone remains comfortable.

  • While we endeavour to seek out quiet locations, we cannot guarantee we won’t be happened upon by a local dog walker or hiker! Having experienced this ourselves, it can be a little embarrassing but has only ever been met with a smile and typical British “nice day for it!”

It is worth noting that the law in the UK is favourable to our project. It's not an offence to be naked in public. It only becomes an offence if it can be proved the person stripped off with the intention to upset and shock. This of course, is far from what we are doing. In the absence of any sexual context and intention to cause alarm and distress – being naked in public is within the law.

  • 100%!! Your shots are personal to you and we never use anybody’s photographs for social or promotion purposes without consent. Your shots will be available to view in a password protected gallery within the website.

  • All Bare Project shots adhere to the same theme - they are shot from behind and do not feature the model’s face. There are multiple reasons for this. Firstly, from an artistic perspective and having been long term fans of ‘no face’ portraits, we simply love the mood and feeling this gives to the photographs. Crucially however, we find shooting from behind much less daunting for non-confident models. They soon relax when staring out into the landscape before them rather than down the barrel of a camera! This approach also helps protect a model’s identity.

  • In the increasingly fake AI, airbrushed world we find ourselves living in, our goal is to return to true, authentic portrait photography which celebrates the true you. The number 1 rule for all photos we take is strictly no body shape editing or manipulation otherwise, what’s the point? While we are happy to remove any spots or blemishes which wouldn’t usually be there, your body will remain true to itself because that is where the beauty lies.

  • We offer bespoke, flexible pricing based on shoot duration and location. The fee for the shoot includes five digital images with the option of purchasing more. Additionally, print options will soon be available to purchase.

During the planning stage of the shoot, we’ll provide a transparent quote with no hidden costs.
