What is The Bare Project?

The Bare Project consists of a team of portrait photographers passionate about creating beautiful, meaningful images in natural landscapes that celebrate self-confidence and body positivity.

2024 saw the birth of The Bare Project. Being in your 40s can suck and the tendency to stare in the mirror worrying about another grey hair, another wrinkle or another inch on the waist, is unavoidable. Meanwhile the digital world we live in is forcing images of picture-perfect people into our feeds each time we open up our phones.

It was early one spring morning when we decided to test our own body acceptance comfort levels and found ourselves standing naked, in a beautiful countryside location, rattling off a series of self-portraits. Fully expecting them never to see the light of day, upon reviewing our early morning shots we were astonished to see that we actually looked OK! Yes, we could see all the lumps, bumps and wrinkles but the realisation that we could stare at these photos and not feel ashamed, was powerful.

The images we captured triggered the birth of The Bare Project and we immediately knew we had to open it up to others. If we could give the sense of body self-acceptance to at least one more person, it would be worth it.

What began as a husband-and-wife Instagram project has grown into a team of four, united by the same belief: every body deserves to be seen, celebrated, and included in art. No matter your age, shape, or size, our goal is to create portraits that honour who you truly are.

We seek out stunning natural locations to photograph you in, allowing you to connect with nature and embrace your authentic self in an environment that feels open, grounding, and empowering. Our sessions are designed to be relaxed, supportive, and uplifting—because feeling comfortable is just as important as looking beautiful.

Our number one rule is simple and non-negotiable: no body shape editing. We don’t change bodies—we celebrate them. Every image we create is a true reflection of you, because we believe the real you is already amazing.

Through photography, we aim to produce timeless works of art that promote body confidence, positivity, and self-acceptance—images where you can see yourself as you truly are. So, if you like the look of what we do and are interested in booking a shoot with us, do get in touch! We can’t wait to work with you.
